TVSN Closing Down: What Shoppers Need to Know Before 15 November

TVSN, the Australian shopping channel that has been on air for more than 30 years, is closing down. Owner Direct Group has confirmed the channel will shut for good on Sunday, 15 November, or earlier if stock runs out, after a months-long search for a buyer failed to turn up a deal.

Quick answer: Yes, TVSN is really closing. The closing-down sale is on now while stock lasts, in-stock orders are still being processed and dispatched, and customers are being told to use gift cards and vouchers before the doors shut. Check TVSN’s official site for their latest customer FAQs.

Why is TVSN closing down?

TVSN has been on Australian screens since 1995, first as The Value Channel and later as TVSN. It sells fashion, beauty, homewares and jewellery through live television, a website and an app, broadcasting via Seven and Foxtel as well as in New Zealand.

Its owner, Sydney-based Direct Group, has been trying for months to find new investment or a buyer for the business. In a memo to suppliers seen by Inside Retail, the board said those talks “have not resulted in a binding transaction”. With no buyer, the company moved to wind the channel down, and a closing-down sale began in early October.

The final date has now been locked in: TVSN intends to close on Sunday 15 November, or earlier if stock sells out first. Around 250 full-time and part-time staff are affected.

Key dates

  • Early October 2026 — Direct Group announced TVSN would close unless a buyer was found; the closing-down sale began.
  • 21 October 2026 — Direct Group told suppliers no rescue buyer had been found.
  • 15 November 2026 (Sunday) — TVSN’s intended final day on air, or earlier if stock sells out.

Between now and then, TVSN remains on air and trading during the sale period.

What happens to your orders?

This is what the company has told customers:

  • In-stock orders are being processed and dispatched as normal during the closing-down sale.
  • If there are any problems getting your order out, customer service will contact you directly.
  • Gift cards, vouchers and store credit should be used now — the company has urged customers to spend them before the closure.
  • The company says final trading and broadcast dates will be published on TVSN.com.au once confirmed, along with FAQs on orders, returns, vouchers and payments.

As with any closing-down sale, shop early if you see something you want: the company has said there will be no restocks, and once an item is gone it is gone.

What about staff and suppliers?

About 250 full-time and part-time staff work for TVSN, and the closure puts those jobs at risk. Suppliers have also been hit: the Sydney Morning Herald’s reporting found suppliers owed thousands of dollars they fear they may never recover, including fashion label Philosophy Australia, whose owner said TVSN was her biggest wholesale client and owed tens of thousands in unpaid invoices.

Direct Group is also selling Reader’s Digest

TVSN is not the only brand on the block. Direct Group, whose portfolio covers around 15 brands across shopping, innovations and digital publishing, has also put the Reader’s Digest magazine business up for sale, reportedly seeking around $30 million.

Back in April 2022, equity partners CPE Capital invested $40 million into Direct Group. That backing was not enough to keep TVSN running in its current form.

What shoppers should do now

  1. Use gift cards and vouchers — do not sit on them past the closure.
  2. Shop the sale early — popular items will sell out and will not be restocked.
  3. Keep your receipts and order confirmations until every item arrives.
  4. Track your deliveries and watch for any message from customer service.
  5. Check the returns policy on TVSN.com.au before buying, since returns after closure may be difficult.

Frequently asked questions

Is TVSN definitely closing?

Yes. Direct Group confirmed that without a buyer, TVSN intends to close on Sunday 15 November, or earlier if stock sells out. The only thing that could stop it now is a last-minute deal, which the company says has not materialised.

Is the TVSN closing-down sale genuine?

Yes, the sale is being run by TVSN itself to clear stock. TV Tonight reported around $30 million in stock — including beauty products, supplements and diamonds — was being heavily discounted. But remember: no restocks, and some suppliers have complained they are owed money, so buy what you actually want and keep records.

Will my order still arrive?

TVSN says in-stock items are being processed and dispatched as normal, and that customer service will reach out if there is a problem with your order.

What happens to TVSN gift cards?

Use them now. The company has urged customers to redeem gift cards, vouchers and store credit before the channel closes.

Who owns TVSN?

TVSN is owned by Direct Group, a Sydney-based company with a portfolio of around 15 brands. The channel has been operating since 1995.
